There are some brands you just can’t ignore - Felt being one of them. Also called Felt Atelier, the Amsterdam-based jewellery brand is insanely popular, and you can spot those neon-coloured Felt earrings in a sea of selfies across Instagram, or dangling from the ears of countless party-goers on a night out. But it’s not just Felt’s popularity that makes them so un-ignorable. Although inherently a small object, Felt earrings are a statement of intent. Abstract shapes made from resin and painted bubblegum pink or cobalt blue dangle from gold-plated hoops. Some are bejewelled, some are splashed with colourful paint, but they’re all full of personality.
Felt was founded by a creative duo, each obsessed with jewellery in their own way. Felt’s co-founder Maaike grew up in a family where jewellery was a commemorative part of every moment, from achievement to loss. Her partner-in-bling learned to love jewellery as a boy, in a world that often sees jewellery as exclusive to women. This resulted in an approach unique to Felt, creating bold and festive earrings that celebrate every personality.
Despite the brand’s massive reputation, Felt is backed by a relatively small team. Consequently, Felt earrings are mostly hand-made in Amsterdam from materials like recycled silver, stainless steel and biological resin. With an eye on quality and sustainability, Felt’s pieces are always surprising. Being hand-made, Felt earrings aren’t just unique in their overall design, but in the individual product as well. In short: Felt earrings are as deliciously loud and beautifully one-of-a-kind as their fabulous wearers.
